BoxRec.com/"About.com" -and- The Wiki Encyclopedia group have combined to bring -boxing- a comprehensive all time world RANKINGS. -check this out by looking into HEAVYWEIGHT DIV RANKINGS of BoxRec.com then pick the weight div you wish to search and pick your interest -dimension- ("active" Or, "all time" rankings) -------------------------------------------------------- This "work" is a VAST UNDERTAKING and the people who have put that together deserve recognition and praise (&$). Particulars to know: They RATE the "active" fighters -also- on the "all time" list - thus - this list is "always changing". Last I looked-at-it, Otis is RATED "19" all-time in the Supermiddle weight category. I myself am rated "just inside" the Top 1400 (about pg 70 of 212 pages/ "168 lbs.). How did they pick Otis for 168 lb div when his career is - for most part - 160lbs? I "dunno". I myself was -mostly- 160 lbs, also. Steve Collins they give their No 1 RANKING in this weight div. (three losses in career, but, never halted plus, he "recovered" "Really well"). Nigel Benn, they have 2nd. ----------------------------------------------------------- Where they "Fail" in their analysis (very obviously, too): Danny Blake the "small" side and TOUGH as a "ROCK" (I am a BIG FAN of him...)Heavyweight they rate at "Supermiddlewt". I -for one- can't phanthom the reasoning, there. Much more "blatant" is that they RATE the late (great) Floyd Patterson "4th" on their heavyweight rankings and then they "defend" their "reasoning" for a placement such as that (Reminds me of the Juditirary, here in Connecticut! "it DOES!"). Floyd had a "distict" "and momorable" era but to RATE him the 4th best Hyeavyweight ever is "cub scout" mentality. ---------------------------------------------------------- The over-all body of work, despite the "leadership" mishaps (it is "only boxing", it "isn't a Nation..." right?)is worth checking into.
